August 2019: A Slightly Laid Back Summer Disney Trip: Pretrip

My original summer vacation plans didn’t actually involve a vacation. Originally, like back in December or January, Nick and I had planned to go to Disney for Labor Day weekend, to go to the Halloween party, and potentially spend a day in Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival. Then Nick had his unexpected career change that resulted in mandatory work attendance every holiday weekend. So that trip got canceled. Or, rather, it got modified.

The end result? Another solo Disney trip in August for me. And it took some serious effort to keep this one on track, but with Illuminations ending so soon, I was determined that this trip was going to happen. I can’t say I was confident that this trip would actually happen. In fact, I didn’t allow myself to really plan it until close to trip time, but, I was determined it would happen.

In the end, everything worked out for me to go to Disney. But, this trip will look a little different than most of my Disney trips. I don’t currently (and may not ever again, thanks to Mr. Iger) have an annual pass. Disney has raised the ticket prices enough that it’s hard to justify partial park days. And, well, it was an expensive spring.

So, my trip plan looks something like this:
Tuesday 8/6/19: Fly to Florida and spend some time resort hopping and shopping and eating at Disney Springs.
Wednesday 8/7/19: Theme parks all day
Thursday 8/8/19: Either a waterpark or resort hopping, with dinner at the Boathouse
Friday 8/9/19: Park hopping
Saturday 8/10/19: brunch at Raglan Road, some more Disney Springs time, and then fly home

While planning, I made the mistake of spending a lot of my time looking at Disney food pictures, and seeing an incredible amount of foods I hadn’t tried in Disney before. So many that I actually made a list of snacks to try, and different restaurants to try, and decided that since this was a different kind of trip, it was time to eat at as many Disney restaurants that I hadn’t eaten at before as possible.

So...the countdown got shorter, summer school ended, the budget for the trip was established, and Nick and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary the day before I left. And then...it was TIME FOR DISNEY!!!
