February 2020: An Exploded Family Trip to FL: Day 5

Day 5: Wednesday February 26, 2020

Despite the late night, I was awake pretty early. I read, watched the news, and had a breakfast bar for breakfast. My sister woke up earlier than I expected, but she’s all about looking cute, so it was a couple of hours before she was ready to go.

We were, somewhat surprisingly, in the car a few minutes before our intended time (10). This was a good thing. Traffic was a real treat around that “emergency roadwork” again today.

We got to Grammy and Grampa’s as the sky was darkening, just in time for lunch. We had sandwiches and visited with Grammy and Grampa. And it started to rain.

It rained pretty much all afternoon. We all visited. At various points T, Laura and Grammy all napped.

Around dinner time, the rain was lightening, but not really enough to drag Grammy out in it. We decided collectively that pizza sounded good, and after a few minutes decided the usual delivery chains wouldn’t meet everyone’s needs. So then we started googling, and ended up calling in an order for a large pepperoni pizza and a large meatball pizza to Flippers Pizza, which is just down the road in Spanish Springs.

Laura and I were the designated pizza pick up team. We were happy with our choice to go with Flippers as soon as we walked in. WOW did that place smell amazing!

The pizza was fantastic. My grandmother likes her food, but we ALL were surprised when she ate 3 full slices of pepperoni pizza. We promised (and probably forgot) to leave the phone number for Flippers when we left haha. There are Flippers pizzas down near Disney too; in fact there’s one very close to Silver Lake Resort. And they deliver. I’ll be remembering this next time I’m in Disney with Nick and he’s looking for a late night snack…

After dinner, Laura and I got on the road back to Orlando. We both were exhausted, so we just went back to the condo. The rain had mostly stopped, so the trip was uneventful. When we got back, I showered and went to bed. Laura opened the bottle of wine T had picked up for her, and had a glass of that while watching TV. I think she called it a relatively early night too.
