I got ready and headed for Epcot. The forecast once again had the daily rain closer to mid evening, rather than the traditional 4:00 shower. I’m not going to lie, this schedule was making it harder to work my usual summer park habits into, especially when combined with the 2:00 park hopping restrictions.
Back at Epcot, I finished the cheese challenge with the chili mac (no sour cream!). This was very tasty and even moreso when I considered the fact that it was plant based.
Then I headed for World Showcase to try a couple of year round staples that have been getting a LOT of hype, to see if they were worth the hype. First stop? Germany. When I got there I discovered mobile order was required. C’mon now, it’s not 2020 anymore. Thankfully, there was an immediate time slot, and my pretzel bread pudding was ready almost instantly. When I got to the counter, they had lots of cups of ice water available, so I snagged one of those too.
People…get the pretzel bread pudding from the quick service in Germany (Sommerfest). It’s SO GOOD! Absolutely lived up to the hype!
Once I’d basically inhaled the bread pudding, I continued on through World Showcase, stealing air conditioning from stores and just generally soaking it all in. Why do vacations always go so fast?!
Next stop on the does it live up to the hype tour? The bar in America outside Regal Eagle (not the one immediately along the walkway) for the Moonshine Sour. There was no wait, and I had my beverage in hand (after being carded, obviously) in minutes. This also lived up to the hype. This was another for the delightfully perfect cocktail category.
I probably watched Voices of Liberty, because when do I not? And then I continued wandering World Showcase, trying to find more room for more food.
As I closed in on the entrance to World Showcase, I was still full, so I did a little Future World time. Took a spin on Imagination, still wondering how they got this one so wrong, and watched the Pixar shorts next door. I’m pretty sure they’ve changed up the shorts since the last time I watched this one. The Pixar shorts spot is a great way to cool off and kill some time to make room for more food.
After my Future World time I headed over to Shimmering Sips for my cheese challenge completer prize: the strawberry cheesecake sundae! Here, the CM at the window said “wait, I recognize your face!”. She thought about it for a minute and then was like “you and your friend were at my booth the other night; you got carded and your friend didn’t!”. Folks, Jessie and I were memorable!
The sundae was delicious, obviously!
I decided I couldn’t eat any more so I headed for the front of the park. I decided to pay a visit to the Camera Center on the way to see if they could find my missing pics from the Halloween party. It only took about 5 minutes and they were located! Yay! Obviously, though, since they were posted in an earlier chapter. But…if you know the date, approximate time and location a picture was taken, the photopass people at the Camera centers or whatever they are called in the other parks CAN help. I wished I had known this a year ago when my Tangled photo opp pics from Boo Bash never turned up!
Then I headed out of the park, taking a bunch of Spaceship Earth pictures along the way, just because.
I absolutely love the location of the Port Orleans bus stops…so close to the front of the park! I made it on a waiting bus and was back at the resort soon. I relaxed in the room for a bit and then went for dinner over at the Food Court. One more dish of gumbo!
Since it was my last night and I was not ready to face the music and start packing, I decided to go listen to some music. It was time to brave the lounge solo. I’m not real good at the whole lounge and bar thing when on my own, so this was new territory for me (although, I’d been here right before life shut down in 2020, with my sister). All the seats with a view of the stage were taken, but I found a table with comfy chairs and within minutes the attentive bartender (no really..he’s classic Disney CM) had served me up a hurricane. The hurricane was delicious and the music was enjoyable. This was a much better way to spend the final evening of vacation than packing!
Eventually it was time to face the music, so I paid up, and headed out, passing a custodial CM doing some water art just outside the food court. It’s been years since I’ve seen them doing this, so this was pretty exciting, even if the lighting was terrible for pictures!
I went back to the room, surveyed the situation, did just enough organizing to make packing slightly less painful in the morning, and then showered and called it a night. This was by far the least restful sleep of the trip. Nick had let me know during the day that Quinn, the dog wasn’t doing well, and so I knew I was headed home to face both the school year and other not great circumstances.
