April 2025: A DREAM April Vacation: Day 5

Day 5: Tuesday April 29, 2025

I was, as usual, awake too early for a sea day. That body clock is a bitch. So I caught sunrise.

Eventually I sent out a message to the other 3 with my plan for the day, then got dressed and rallied Nick for breakfast. We were early enough that only one side of Cabanas was open. We were very successful in finding good food this morning, AND a table with a good view. And Kim and John ended up finding us a few minutes after we started eating. Breakfast was good.

While eating, we chatted about today, and also Kim and John’s desire to not fight the buffet, so we decided that tomorrow we would have breakfast at Royal Palace. It was opening a bit earlier since it was a port day, the port was Castaway Cay so we didn’t necessarily have to rush right off, and it would be Kim’s birthday.

After breakfast, Nick headed back to the room and John, Kim and I climbed the stairs and headed into Meridian for our first activity of the day. We got here a few minutes early, so we had the opportunity to see some more details in this lounge. We all were pretty impressed.

The Art of the Theme tour started at 9, and all 3 of us really enjoyed it. It was about an hour and we worked our way from Meridian through Palo and Remy and then down to deck 4. It was just as informative and interesting as the tour I did on the Magic last year. And John was in his element when he dropped a dad joke and the tour guide (Samantha maybe?) was like “sir, you’ve got the dad jokes unlocked today”. Kim and I both groaned and were like “if only it was just today”.

When the tour wrapped up we headed to the D Lounge, where we met up with Nick. It was time for another Anyone Can Cook. This one was for all ages and it was a full house! This was the apple strudel one. Even though we’ve done this a couple of times now, we still enjoyed it. The chefs often either have a good sense of humor, or they’re so blunt it’s funny. Plus, who doesn’t want a sample of apple strudel?

After enjoying our strudel, Kim and John went for food I think. Nick and I found lounge chairs on deck 4 for a bit. It forever amazes me how quiet it is out here, even though it’s a running track and there are shuffleboards. We sat out here for awhile, watching the world go by. The wind was significant today, but the ride was still remarkably smooth.

Eventually we headed inside to find a spot for today’s big event: the baby races…er…I mean Jack Jack’s Diaper Dash! Kim and John met us on deck 4 of the atrium which gave us a perfect view. We all thoroughly enjoyed the baby races. Highly entertaining. And one of the four finalists was from the town Nick and I live in, so that was cool too.

Baby races complete, I think John went back to the room. Nick, Kim and I headed up to the pool deck. Nick and I got food from the Canina (burrito bowls!) and Kim got some dessert from Cabanas. We found a spot to sit and eat kinda near the entrance to Cabanas, and then Nick and I got desserts after we finished our bowls. It was all really tasty. And who doesn’t like eating with a view of the ocean?

We chatted for awhile and then Nick headed to the room for a nap, while Kim and I continued back to deck 4, this time to District Lounge. It was time to learn to draw Groot. Of course, we got there late enough that we had to draw on our laps, but let’s face it…that wasn’t my biggest drawing barrier!

Art completed, we headed back to the rooms where I marveled at the wind situation, especially since cruising was still so smooth. But we were seeing basically straight head on winds. It was wild.

After a bit, Nick and I changed into our optional dress up night clothes and headed down to Skyline Lounge. Time to get our drink on! No, really, it’s time for Mixology.

As always, this was fun. During Mixology, we learned that the Magic Bands buzz and light up right before the skyline image changes. And we had some good beverages. We started with the prosecco based drink, which was Elderflower St Germaine, prosecco and club soda. Then it was on to a passion fruit mojito. This was my favorite. But I’m a sucker for a fruity mojito. Then we had the “tropical dream” which was Captain, Malibu Coconut, blue curacao, pineapple juice and orange juice. Then we had a Cosmo. And then we finished with a shot. This time the shot was creme de cacao, Baileys and a couple drops of grenadine. All of the beverages were very drinkable.

Mixology finished, we headed for the atrium for one last evening of pictures, thoroughly enjoying the piano music while we got our pictures taken.

Then it was off to the Walt Disney Theater. This time we tried the deck 4 entrance and sitting in the balcony. We all quickly decided that the sightlines are MUCH better in the main level of the theater. That being said, we all absolutely loved Beauty and the Beast. SO well done!

After Beauty and the Beast, we headed to the District Lounge to listen to music, because I was kicking myself for (as usual) not having done enough on this cruise. We thoroughly enjoyed the music and the snack mix they gave us.

The music ended and we headed down to Enchanted Garden. This is such an appropriate dining room to be in on dress up night. Our serving team continued to be incredible. I had the Golden Leafs to drink (complete with Disney’s really terrible addition…edible straws…JUST GIVE US AGAVE STRAWS DISNEY!). For food, I had the lobster ravioli appetizer and the sea bass entree. I skipped soup and dessert. Dinner was great.

Dinner eaten, we headed back to the room, where we found tonight’s towel animal. Guesses included ostrich, an ostrich in a priest robe, and a goose in a straight jacket. We’ve since decided though that it probably was a penguin.

I ditched the dressy clothes, because I was done with the Spanx, and put on my casual clothes from the day again. Then we headed down to Pink, the champagne bar, to listen to some Disney piano music. We found John standing outside the entrance, listening to the rock music in District lounge, so we listened to that for a few minutes, before heading into pink. The music here was Daniel Richardson, the same pianist that had done Disney Tunes trivia. It was excellent. The macaron bar snacks were great too. And, ok, so was my beverage, the Pomegranate Passion, which, like it sounds, involved pomegranate, passion fruit and champagne. Good music and a beverage in this relaxing atmosphere was a great way to end the evening.

Before heading back to the room, we attempted to take a quick walk on deck 4. This lasted approximately 5 seconds. As soon as the door to deck 4 opened, we were getting hit in the face from sea spray. The sailing was still surprisingly smooth, but the head-on wind was still really fierce and the result was some serious sea-spray.

So we headed back to the room and crashed for the night.
