Cast of Characters:
Nick: 29, my boyfriend. He’s a salesman. He leaves basically all of the vacation planning up for me.
Me: 29. Disney fan and the resident vacation planner.
During one of those cold snaps in 2015 that lasted the whole winter, we saw an ad for a ridiculous deal with Royal Caribbean. I’d been a little bit intrigued by cruising, and at that point in the winter, the images of sun, sun and more sun were pretty intriguing. Plus, I’m at that point in my life where quantity of vacations matters majorly, so deals also matter. So we started looking into cruising. To make a long story VERY short, we ended up booking a Disney cruise for April 27 to May 1, 2016, aboard the Disney Wonder, departing from Miami. I was more than a little excited. I had figured a Disney cruise would be out of the budget until such time as I move past this whole “must take advantage of every school vacation” phase I’m currently in. But, we found one that was very much in the budget. We’re going on a DISNEY CRUISE!
Way too many months passed, and amidst the craziest school year yet, slowly the countdown got smaller, and the trip sort of got planned. We decided to fly down a couple days early to explore southern FL a bit, since neither one of us had been further south in FL than Tampa. After a LOT of time on Trip Advisor, we booked 2 nights at the Doubletree Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay. I booked us in a king bayview room for two nights, paying cash for one night and points for the 2nd night. This is important…
15 months after booking, it was finally time to start packing. The pre-April vacation insanity at school wrapped up, we dropped the dogs off at Nick’s parents house for the week, and set our alarms for an early departure.
