This morning I woke up slowly. It had been a long night of massive heartburn. Apparently 4 drinks that were heavy on the citrus in 5 hours was not a wise choice. This being over 35 thing sucks. But never, fear, I had two phones going at 7 to get in the Guardians of the Galaxy virtual queue and despite me apparently not hitting refresh hard enough initially, I snagged boarding group 97. Not great, but…it’s a boarding group.
Shortly after obtaining the boarding group, dad texted me with the updated forecast for home for our return date (a foot of snow). Cool…but what’s Boston like? An inch of snow and some wind. Since he travels far more than I do, I asked him if he thought I should be trying to reschedule the flight and his response was “Boston should be ok”.
We’ll see…
We both got up and moving and headed for breakfast. The signage was horrendous this morning in the sense that it didn’t accurately identify any of the hot options, but the offerings were sufficient to get us started for the day.
Shortly after 8, we hopped in the rental car and drove over to Epcot. It was a pretty easy drive, and pretty soon we were parked only a few cars from the good end of row Wall-E 506. The app prompted me to enter in my parking information, so, for the first time in years, I didn’t take a picture of the row number.
We headed for the entrance, and they let us in the park not long after we got to the line at the tapstyles. Unlike Universal, my finger scan here worked just fine, and we were in the park!
They kept us near Spaceship Earth for a bit, so I did some picture taking.
When they let us offsite losers in, we headed straight for Soarin. I’d obviously been monitoring the early entry wait times in between picture taking while we were waiting, and Soarin still had a VERY manageable wait. Reality…it was basically a walk-on.
Having soared over the world, we headed for Living with the Land. This was a true walk-on.
As we passed by Connections and Creations (could we get some more creative thinkers for Epcot Names?), we saw…the Jammitors starting! Obviously we watched. They’re awesome.
Then I did some more picture taking.
We found the most perfect shirt for me, but they didn’t have it in my size. Nick, having surprisingly more patience than me, tracked down a CM who checked inventory and found that it was available in my size at World of Disney. Cool, we’ll go get that tomorrow on our way back from Sea World! (or will we?...)
Then? More picture taking, including a dog that, based on both owner and dog behavior probably wasn’t the service dog its vest claimed it was.
And then it was time to eat! Brunchcot was packed, so we skipped that one. First stop was the Farer’s Feast, where I got the bison. This was excellent.
Next up was Citrus Bloom inside the Odyssey building. We got the citrus tempura shrimp, the brie, and the citrus sunshine wine slushy. Everything we had here was a win. No really, just go buy everything at this booth, because I’m sure the lemon meringue pie is fantastic too.
Onward to Mexico! The offerings at the festival food booth were boring (and HOW are those drinks considered margaritas?!), but both of us thought we should have margaritas in Mexico. So, after realizing La Cava no longer makes you line up outside, we headed into the pyramid, Nick wondering where I was taking him, and commenting that he didn’t realize there was so much inside. Umm…haven’t I taken you on Mexican Small World before?!
The line for La Cava moved quickly, and pretty soon we were standing at the bar ordering our to-go margs. Topshelf for Nick, Avocado for me. While waiting for the margaritas, Nick commented he never realized there was a tequila bar in Epcot. Um, did you not notice the name? It literally translates to the Cave of Tequila!
Margaritas acquired more quickly than I’d anticipated based on facebook posts, we headed outside into the shade by the handicap ramp to enjoy our margaritas. Nick’s was a lot of alcohol, which, for the price tag, it should be. Mine was good, but next time I might try the blood orange instead.
Margaritas enjoyed, it was time to do some more picture taking around the world. It was a beautiful (and hot!) day.
When we got to Germany, based on signage, I mobile ordered a pretzel bread pudding, and waited to see that my order was ready, anticipating that popping up pretty quickly. It actually didn’t. 15 minutes later, I stopped by the window, where the CM couldn’t find my order in his system, but could clearly see it on my app. He contacted his manager and pretty soon, I had both the pretzel bread pudding and a complimentary huge pretzel (no picture) “as a token of their appreciation” for my patience. The bread pudding was fantastic. The pretzel was…dry.
Bread pudding consumed, it was time for something a bit more substantial. I placed a mobile order and we headed for Regal Eagle, obviously doing more picture taking along the way.
Mobile order worked perfectly at Regal Eagle, and pretty soon we were sitting down to split the burnt ends loaded french fries. These were pretty good, but the seasoning on the fries was REALLY salty.
We finished eating just in time to head next door for the next Voices of Liberty set. They were fantastic, as always.
From here we worked our way to Japan, where we got some fruishi and listened to the drummers. No pictures of either, because slacker. But, I did capture the topiaries in America and Japan.
