Despite staying up way too late the night before, I woke up just in time to see sunrise, which according to the bridge report, my favorite channel on the in-room TV, was approximately 6:20 am. Clearly I do the relaxing sea day thing well!
After I watched sunrise, I got dressed and then rallied Nick. He got ready while I spent some time watching the bridge report. Cabanas didn’t open until 7:30 this morning, so we had time. Once he was ready we headed for breakfast, surprised by just how many people were there at like 7:40, on a sea day. Clearly I’m not the only one. We piled our plates and found a spot to sit. Breakfast was delicious!
After breakfast it was back to the room for a bit to watch the world go by. Nick took a nap, while I sat on the balcony. I did read a little bit. And I marveled at how blue that Gulf water is.
Shortly before 10:30, we headed for O’Gills for Brainteaser Trivia. We’d done this on the Fantasy and had been better at it than expected. This time, well…we got more than half right? It was fun though.
After Brainteaser Trivia, we did a bit of shopping and then went back to the room, where we met our stateroom hostess, Maricar. She was lovely. Super friendly and personable. Nick then took another quick nap before lunch and I spent some more time on the balcony.
We hit Cabanas for lunch, and even managed to eat outside…in the shade for Nick, but still…outside in February! It was Asian day at the buffet, and overall, lunch was delicious.
After lunch, we headed for the Soul Cat Lounge for Disney Parks (Level 1) trivia. As we walked in we saw our tablemates, Josh and Irene. They invited us to join, so we became Team Table 23 (our dinner table number). Josh has some serious Disney parks expertise, and I did ok too, so together we achieved a score of 18. Irene and Nick were kind of along for the ride, but all 4 of us had a good time. The winners had a score of 19, so while we didn’t win, we felt pretty accomplished!
After trivia, we headed back to the room. Nick took another nap. I watched the ocean, watched the bridge report (the ocean is really 3500 meters deep here?! WOAH), and eventually went up on deck to just wander. It was a beautiful day!
Eventually I headed back to the room to wake Nick up for our last trivia of the day, Disney Food trivia. I didn’t expect to be good at this one, but was intrigued enough to check it out. We headed back to O’Gills for this one, where we found a pretty packed house. Another couple quickly invited us to join. She was a total expert, and I really didn’t have any opportunity to help, because she knew virtually all of the answers that I did, plus some. The husbands were just there in supporting roles. We enjoyed chatting with them between questions, and while the other lady carried the team, I knew more than I thought I would. It was an interesting blend of questions…movie food, park restaurants, and random details about park food. We (the lady that carried the team) did well, but in the end we lost by several points. On the plus side, the one I got wrong did not keep us from winning!
After trivia, we headed up on deck for Nick to find a snack. I think he got a burger or a sausage or something. At this hour there wasn’t much open for food options. We (I) had decided to skip the show tonight, so we weren’t in a huge rush, but he was hungry.
Food consumed, we changed into “optional dress-up night” clothes and went to the atrium to get some pictures taken, thoroughly enjoying listening to Soul Duo’s music while waiting for pictures. We also enjoyed seeing Mickey's reaction to Nick's Mickey shirt.
Pictures taken, we wandered a bit. This led us to the portholes in the after hours area. It was totally the wrong time of day lighting-wise for pictures here, but that didn’t stop us.
Then we headed for the Soul Cat Lounge, where we listened to the piano player. He was excellent. I’d love to tell you what his name is, but…no paper Navigators. We enjoyed a drink of the day (something blue) while listening to the music. It was a nice way to spend some time.
When the music was done, we headed out to Deck 4 for a little fresh air. It was quite windy so it was a little chilly by southern standards, but reasonably tolerable for a couple New Englanders.
And then it was time for dinner. We were in Lumiere’s tonight, which felt appropriate for dress-up night. Dana and Jenna were in Palo tonight, so it was just 6 of us. We had a great time chatting with our tablemates, Sompong continued to impress, and the food was excellent. Nick had lots of steak and duck type foods. I had fried brie, potato soup, the salmon royale, and the grand marnier souffle. We once again were one of the last tables to leave.
Then showers were taken, the balcony was appreciated for its view of the stars, and we did our best to crash, full of food and excited for the next day.
