February Vacation 2022: A Non-Solo Disney World Trip: Day 6, Part 1

Day 6: Thursday March 3, 2022

I actually slept until after 5 this morning. Woah! I got up and got ready eventually and then got Nick up to get ready. We had places to be and food to eat!

But first I had one more Lightning Lane to try for. This time it did not go as smoothly as it did for Rise. I used the same strategies, but I thought about the time. And I think that’s why I failed. Don’t think! Don’t hesitate! Just click! I’ll try again for Remy in August…

Lightning Lane attempted, we headed for the front of the resort and requested a Lyft. It was time for breakfast!

When I originally made our plans, this was going to be another laid back morning. Epcot was opening at 10, which meant 9:30 (officially) for resort guests. So I had scheduled breakfast at Trattoria Al Forno in the 8:00 hour. Nick had gotten excited about the breakfast because tiramisu french toast, and I was excited because I really enjoyed breakfast here in August.

Fast forward to a couple days before departure where I read online that Epcot was opening at 8:30 for official opening, which meant it was opening even earlier for resort guests. Say WHAT?! So I looked, and sure enough, Disney had quietly adjusted the opening times. Ugh! Thankfully there was a 7:35 reservation available so I changed our Trattoria reservation, and decided we’d just roll with it. Remy was not an absolute must ride, and Soarin hasn’t been posting the morning waits that it used to.

So anyway…I requested the Lyft and our ride arrived a few minutes later. We got to the Boardwalk in plenty of time. We checked in and were seated about 7:30. As we were being seated the host asked if we’d been there before. I said that I had, but Nick hadn’t. The host looked at him and said “man, you’re going to owe her. Enjoy breakfast!”

Nick liked the atmosphere and the smell of the restaurant immediately. Service was great (and efficient!), and the food was too! Nick understood as soon as he took his first bite of breakfast why I had insisted on breakfast here! He had the tiramisu french toast and I had the buttermilk pancakes. It was all excellent!

Breakfast eaten, it was off to Epcot. We marveled at all of the early morning runners (WHY?) and enjoyed a leisurely stroll over to the park. The temperature was really pleasant at this point in the morning, and the walk passed quickly.

Entry into the park was easy and pretty soon we were strolling toward Soarin. We felt like fish swimming upstream, heading in the opposite direction of everyone going to Remy. As we came into Future World, I did a little picture taking on our final approach to Soarin.

Soarin was essentially a walk-on at 8:20, and so few people were in line that we all were seated in the center section of our concourse. Nick and I were in row 1. So obviously, it was an awesome flight!

After Soarin, we walked on to Living with the Land, because that one is usually a little more interesting during this festival.

Sufficiently done with the Land Pavilion, we headed to the Seas by way of a good photo op.

Then we walked on to the clamshell ride, where Nick probably took a nap haha. We then explored the various aquariums. Then it was time for some more topiary pictures!

Picture taking done, it was time to figure out where the Jammitors were going to be setting up. They are a must do! Even with the MDE map it feature (fail), we didn’t find them until we heard them. They were just beyond Imagination, kinda near the Lion King topiaries. And they were awesome, as always. Seriously…MUST DO!

Having listened to, as Nick put it, “Disney’s Recycled Percussion”, we headed for Spaceship Earth. We still had a lot of time to kill before the food booths opened! Obviously we were going to need more food today after the amount we had eaten all week… It was a beautiful day and Spaceship Earth was shiny! Ok, and the palm trees were lovely haha

The posted wait for SSE was 30 minutes, but the line was largely shaded and generally moving. I suspected it’d be less than 30 and we had time to kill anyway, so let’s do this! I was right. We waited about 23 minutes to get on the ride.

Once we finally found the exit, it was time for more pictures! I’m going to post them as a lump sum here, but I’ll highlight one particular photopass photographer. Phyl was honestly a pretty terrible photographer, but he had us laughing until we cried, giving Nick marriage advice (never forget the anniversary card…something we don’t do!) and telling stories. He was an older guy, and we’re both pretty sure he had this job to get him out of his wife’s hair. He was awesome to interact with.

And then it was time to eat! We headed towards Test Track to hit the food booths there, taking a few pictures along the way.

First food stop? Dessert! I got the goat cheese creamsicle pop from the Farmer’s Feast booth. This was excellent! It really did taste like a creamsicle, just moussey. Great start to the food portion of the festival!

From here we quickly decided to skip the Sunshine Griddle because the line was insane and not really moving. I guess that fruit loop shake is really instagrammable or something?

So we headed for World Showcase by way of some more good photo ops! And fun story, it was during these photo stops that Nick announced he now calls Figment "Fidget", because the Imagination ride makes his "brain twitch"😂
