After a night of some of the most sound sleep I have experienced in years, I was awake EARLY. By that, I mean there was no sign of sunrise yet. So much for the idea that I would sleep in on the sea day to recover from the crazy travel experience.
Anyway...since it was so early, I went out on the balcony and attempted to take some pictures of the moon.
Then, since Nick was conducting a one man snorechestra, I headed up to the Satellite Falls area to catch the sunrise. This was wonderful, although, my choice to wear a summery dress today, since it was Easter was perhaps not the wisest for this activity.
By the time the sun had fully risen, I was kind of cold, so I headed back to the room. Nick was still snoring, and Cabanas didn’t open for breakfast for quite a bit longer, so I went in search of the paper Navigator for the day, and added some gift cards to my account at guest services. In case anyone was wondering, pre-7 am is a fantastic time to conduct business at guest services. No wait. It is also an amazing time for pictures in the atrium.
By this point, it was getting closer to when Cabanas would open for breakfast, so I went back to my room and did what any good wife would do: sat down on the bed right up against Nick, and played with his bald head until he woke up. Time for breakfast honey!
Nick took this like a champ, and we were at Cabanas pretty soon after for breakfast. In true Disney form, the cast member overseeing hand washing greeted us with “Have a good breakfast, you deserve it!”. I went a little overboard with my food choices for this breakfast, but it was all delicious, especially the little yogurt smoothie shooter, and we found the POG juice on the first try! We also found a couple of chocolate Easter egg displays.
After breakfast, we went back to the room. I read for a bit, and watched the seas, until the stores opened, and then went and did some shopping. Nick went back to sleep. After my shopping, I made the mistake of walking aft on deck 5, as the kids club Easter egg hunt was letting out. THAT was a bit chaotic. That being said, my decision meant that I stumbled upon Pepe’s door.
Nick was still snoozing when I got back to the room, so I changed into swimwear, and went for a change of scenery for my reading. Since it looked like it might rain, and SOON, I found a lounge chair in a covered area near the quiet cove pool. It was a perfect spot for reading, staying out of the 3 minutes of rain that did start soon after, and for indulging my distractibility a bit.
Nick found me eventually, and parked himself in the lounge chair next to mine and started reading too. I went over to the bar for a couple of drinks of the day, unsure of what I would get. The Navigator app had a normal beverage listed for today. The paper app was showing the “Easter Egg” for today. When I asked what the DOTD was, the response was “you won’t like it”. He then showed me a separating mess of milk and blue. Sounds like it was made with milk and blue curacao. I ordered a Mai Tai instead, and sent Nick to make his own beverage decisions.
Decisions made, it was time for lunch. Since we were VERY comfortable right where we were, we decided to just get food from Flo’s, which was just on the other side of the wall. Food consisted of plates of chicken tenders and fries for both of us. Perfect swimsuit food, right?!
Speaking of Quiet Cove, and the wall, can we discuss how wild it is to step from the family area into the quiet area? The difference in volume is mind boggling, even though it is just a partial wall that separates the two. It’s amazing and awesome.
After eating, the sun was out, so I sat at the edge of the pool for a few minutes. It felt very nice in the shallow area on my feet. I got the impression from those jumping in, though, that the deeper areas felt considerably colder.
While I was at the pool, a cast member walked around offering cold towels. Nick was all over that!
Very soon it was time to head back to the room to get ready for the afternoon. I changed back into non-swimwear clothes, and then watched the ocean for a few minutes.
